Yewon Ahn

Anonymously Endowed

Yewon Ahn joined the cello section of the North Carolina Symphony in 2018. Before she moved to Raleigh, she was contracted by Houston Symphony during 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons and joined Houston Symphony’s 2017 eight-concert tour through Europe with Hilary Hahn.

She has given numerous solo, orchestral, and chamber performances and collaborated with major international artists and conductors such as Stéphane Denève, Thierry Fischer, Placido Domingo, Gilbert Varga, James Conlon, Nicholas McGegan, Vladimir Jurowski, Ray Chen, Clive Greensmith, Martin Beaver, Scott St. John, Robert deMaine, and the Ébène Quartet.

She was also the cellist for Colburn Conservatory’s “Recovered Voices” project, founded and directed by renowned LA Opera Music Director James Conlon, and joined their Arizona tour.

Ahn has attended the Meadowmount School of Music as a teaching assistant and recently, she has taught at the Colburn Music Academy.
