Timothy Stewart

The Henry and Martha Zaytoun and Family Chair

A native of Chicago, Timothy Stewart is a graduate of Northwestern University. He received his orchestral training as a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and as an extra member with the Chicago Symphony. He studied with several members of the Chicago Symphony brass section, including the orchestra’s legendary Principal Trumpet, Adolph Herseth. He has performed and recorded under the direction of Sir Georg Solti, Carlo Maria Giulini, Seiji Ozawa and Leopold Stokowski.

He joined the North Carolina Symphony trumpet section in 1972. He has been featured as a soloist with the orchestra and has perfomed in various chamber music ensembles including the Manning Chamber Music Series. Additionally, he maintains an active free lance schedule and private teaching studio.

In the community, he is a volunteer with Wake Relief, Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network, and Interfaith Food Shuttle.
