On Wednesday, September 26, NCS musicians and staff traveled to Southern Pines for a live education concert for nearly 1,100 third and fourth grade students in Moore County.
Elaine Sills, member of the Moore County Chapter Board of Advisors said, “Seeing the children having the opportunity to SEE and HEAR a LIVE orchestra was all the proof needed to know that this is one of the most significant events they will have all year.”
In talking about the collaborations necessary to make the concert a success, she said, “The scene was absolute inspiration to keep on keeping on! Being a former music educator, I was humbled by the professional service and dedication that was in evidence for these children. Simply unforgettable.”
Together with Elaine, we thank the schools for their superb partnership and to the students for being an excellent audience.
Moore County Schools Superintendent, Aaron Spence agreed, saying, “I left energized and appreciative of the work the NC Symphony does for children. I also left a little smarter, and I appreciate so much the emphasis on education and not just performance!”
