The Best Classroom Isn't a Classroom, It's a Stage.

This past year was the first year of Fidelity FutureStage, an inspiring instrumental program designed to give kids the chance to see a new future for themselves through music.

The Symphony and Fidelity Investments showered four underserved schools in the Triangle area with resources, hoping to create fertile ground for music programs in Durham at Eastway Elementary, in Raleigh at Washington Elementary and Underwood Elementary, and in Siler City at Chatham Middle School. The year was an exercise in the art of possibility- we built a percussion section from nothing, where there were a few meager string instruments, we built an orchestra, a music room was moved from being an outdoor temporary trailer to a permanent classroom inside the school.

In the link below you’ll read about our stories, and meet the young musicians on their way to a new future through music. We are about to embark on our second year of the program, and we will have many more stories to tell!
